Cead míle fáilte!
My name is Tracy Carrick and I am a student at Hibernia College completing the Professional Masters of Education (PME) programme for Post-Primary Education.
I am a 38 year old student teacher of Geography and Digital Technology in Teaching and Learning, however, I do also hold a level 8 degree in Gaeilge from University College Dublin. I established my own Irish Dancing School in 2015 and since then I have been teaching children and adults, from three years to over thirty years old.
My dedication and personal commitment got me through the tough balancing act of going back to education, raising my children, and running a household which shows that I am driven to achieve my ambition to teach. After sitting my Leaving Certificate in June 2009, I started in UCD that September to study Geography and Gaeilge. I feel that my maturity gave me a difference perspective whilst at U.C.D as I was disciplined and worked hard. This demonstrated sheer determination to achieve my goals.
It is true that a teacher never stops learning and my life has taught me a great deal. I left school at young age and got married. I have had a career in accounting and have raised a family. Life teaches you many lessons and as a parent you spent a lot of time teaching. I have achieved many of my personal goals and now is the right time to complete my teaching qualification to inspire and empower generations to come.
Please take time to read my portfolio. I hope you enjoy it.
Tracy
